What is sperm cryopreservation?

Spermatozoa are preserved in liquid nitrogen (at very low temperatures) for many years without losing their fertilizing ability, in order to be used later. It can be described as a method of preserving male fertility. Notably, babies have been born from sperm that remained frozen for 40 years.
