The process, step-by-step
The process is fully organized and carried out under medical guidance.
1. Initial assessment
It begins with a brief consultation where you receive information about your rights and responsibilities. You can ask any questions you may have and sign the informed consent. With the support of trained healthcare professionals, you complete a short questionnaire and provide a semen sample for basic laboratory evaluation.
2. Medical and genetic screening
If your initial sample meets the criteria, you undergo blood tests and specialized screening for infectious and hereditary conditions. The quality of your sperm is also assessed through advanced molecular analyses according to the highest safety standards.
3. Donation
Once all stages are completed, you make your donation in a private, discreet, and comfortable room, at regular intervals.
4. Freezing and use
The samples are frozen and stores in our Cryobank, under controlled conditions, and are provided to recipients strictly according to safety regulations.
Donor anonymity & legal options
A sperm donor has no legal, financial, or parental obligations toward any children born from their donation. By law, the Cryobank does not disclose any information to donors about the use or outcome of their samples.
Recipients receive only general characteristics about the donor — such as hair, eye, and skin color, age, ethnic background, education, and interests — ensuring the donor’s privacy while offering enough information for them to seek basic compatibility.
There are three anonymity options:
Anonymous Donation
The donor’s identity remains fully confidential and is not disclosed to recipients or to any resulting children.
Partly Anonymous Donation
The donor’s identity can be accessed only by donor-conceived adults once they reach 18, if they choose to request it.
Identified (known) donation
The donor’s identity is available to both recipients and donor-conceived adults.
*Applies only when the donor is a relative in the collateral line.
Before beginning the process, every prospective donor receives full information and signs a detailed consent form specifying exactly how their personal data may be used or disclosed.
Τhis ensured full protection and clarity for both donors and recipients.
Donor compensation
While donation is an altruistic act, your time and commitment are recognized. You receive reasonable compensation for each donation, covering your time and related expenses, in accordance with Green and EU legislation.
