What is the sperm microbiome?
The sperm microbiome is the collection of microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, viruses, and protozoa) that naturally exist in seminal fluid.
Every man has a unique “microbial profile,” which is normally balanced. When this balance is disrupted, it can negatively affect sperm quality and fertility, potentially causing inflammation or increased oxidative stress.
Why is sperm microbiome testing important?

Before collection, thorough cleaning of hands and the genital area is necessary to prevent contamination. The sample must be collected carefully, avoiding contact with the skin, and delivered to the laboratory within one hour of collection.

- Have urinary or genital discomfort or inflammation (pain, swelling, discharge, irritation, painful urination)
