Semen Immunological Testing - Anti-Sperm Antibodies

How is it performed?

Semen immunological testing detects the presence of anti-sperm antibodies in seminal plasma, which can cause infertility in 5-10% of cases. The most common test for this is the MAR (Mixed Antiglobulin Reaction) test, which measures these antibodies directly. The test is performed when agglutination (clumping) of sperm cells is observed in the semen or when there has been a previous surgical intervention in the urogenital area.
